Brown & Gammons are sad to learn of the early passing of Gerry Brown, one of the founding Directors of the company, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Gerry was supported throughout by his wife Annabel and family at his home in Suffolk, where he had moved when he left the company in 1993. He set up and ran Merton Motorsport from his new location. We all remained friends throughout.

Gerry had first become involved with MG, beginning racing a MG TC in the 1970’s, and later becoming a front runner in the series. A later foray with a loaned MGB in Oliver Rix blue and yellow colours in production sport-cars again allowed him to demonstrate his driving abilities.

Along with Ron and Valery Gammons, Gerry started B&G in 1977.  Initially continuing for the first year to work full time for Kodak where he was an expert in electrostatics, although many lunchtimes or more would see him delivering or collecting parts or machining! Long hours were the order of the week at B&G and the success of the company was based on these foundations.

A sad loss, a truly nice man, taken far too soon. Our sincere sympathies to Annabel, Mary and Rachel, and Christopher and Clare, children by an earlier marriage.

Condolences from all at Brown & Gammons
