T Series

The “T” series range consisted of five main models, the “TA” of which just on 3000 were built. This was based on the earlier concept of a simple ladder framed chassis with a compact two seater open body fitted with the Morris derived 1292cc MPJG engine. The TB launched in 1939 was curtailed by the Second World War and only 379 were constructed. It was basically the same as the TA but with the first use of the famed XPAG engine. After the war with some minor changes the model designation was changed to “TC” and production started in earnest and in just four years 10,000 left the factory. The basis concept of the simple ladder frame chassis continued as did the XPAG engine.

The TD launched in 1949 was a step change in that the chassis was substantially changed featuring both independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering, the faithful and successful XPAG engine was retained but with a wider body which, while remaining an open two seater, was widened with bigger doors for easier access. It was a runaway success with just under 30,000 being sold in just the four years of production. It was available from new only with disc wheels.

The successor; the TF was very similar in construction but with some styling changes to extend what was basically the TD model life, while the next major design change arrived. The TF 1250cc engine was upgraded to 1500cc for the last of 3400 production cars with a total of 10,000 produced in only two years of production.
